The city authorities hope that residents will support the innovation

In the town of Bucha, Kyiv region, private homeowners will receive special containers for sorting household waste.

This was discussed at a working meeting on the introduction of separate waste collection for the private sector, which took place on February 21 at the Bucha City Council.

Among the priority issues discussed was the creation of new sites for integrated waste collection, including bulky and hazardous waste.

Deputy Mayor of Bucha Dmytro Cheychuk also said that the authorities are actively working on creating an interactive map of separate waste collection points so that every resident can easily find the nearest collection point for different types of waste.

The Buchanski Novyny newspaper reminded that several years ago, every private household in the city received containers for solid waste.

“Gradually, people got used to the new system. Therefore, the amount of garbage on the street, which is carried by the wind, has significantly decreased,” the publication said.

As EcoPolitic reported in January 2024, the first EcoHub in the district was opened in Bucha. The money from the sale of recyclables collected here is used to help the military. And in April of the same year, an innovative site for recycling construction waste generated as a result of the destruction during the hostilities was launched in the city.
