Apple already uses recycled materials in the iPhone 13 series

Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the company aims not to use any of the Earth's resources and to produce new smartphones from waste or recycled products.

By 2030, the company hopes to achieve carbon neutrality, including in the supply chain and products used by consumers, reports NewsTimes.

He noted that it is important for Apple to produce products in an environmentally friendly way. However, this is a long-term goal for Apple that the company will not be able to achieve anytime soon.

Apple is committed to protecting the environment and using waste as raw material for new gadgets.

The material noted that in 2021, Apple stopped using plastic film to cover the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro boxes, which saved 600 tons of plastic.

Apple also uses recycled materials in the production of the iPhone 13 series. For example, the internal sensor mechanism of the mobile phone uses 100% recycled tungsten, which accounts for 99% of the tungsten content in the entire device. Such tungsten was also used to cover the main board. Additionally, 100% recycled gold was used for the front and rear camera cables.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Samsung has announced plans to use plastic from fishing nets in all device models from 2022.

As Ecopolitic previously reported, Apple Corporation intends to start production of own electric car in 2024.
