Elderly people showed more activity than young people

The pilot mini-project on the separate collection of household waste in Bila Tserkva was successfully completed: 90% of the waste was sorted correctly by the residents.

This was reported by the "Crocus" TV channel.

The experiment lasted 2 weeks. The mayor's office says that residents actively participated in the initiative.

"Most people took this measure positively – our department started receiving requests from community residents about installing such containers in their yards," the city council said.

Full containers of paper and plastic were collected at two sites in a week, which will not go to the landfill, but will go to further sorting.

Since the townspeople actively participated in the separate collection of garbage, the Department of Housing and Housing of the Bilotserkiv City Council decided that the project should be expanded to other districts and to introduce sorting into at least 4 fractions.

According to officials, 90% of waste was correctly sorted, with the elderly sorting garbage more actively and more correctly than young people.

"So, as the experiment showed, our citizens are ready and interested in the implementation of useful initiatives, because they understand that our future and the future of future generations depend on the ecology of the environment," concluded the Bilotserkiv City Council.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, on two garbage sites, municipal workers of Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region put special tanks for separate collection of household waste.
