The funds have already reached the state budget

The State Environmental Inspectorate of the Dnieper District conducted an unscheduled inspection at PJSC ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog and filed 5 claims for compensation for losses caused to the state as a result of emergency emissions, for a total of 10,293,582,88 UAH.

The supervisory authority reported this on the Facebook page.

Specialists checked compliance with the requirements of environmental legislation in the field of atmospheric air protection by coke production of AMKR from July 1 to July 12.

As a result, 9 responsible officials of the enterprise were brought to administrative responsibility in the form of a fine totaling 1224 UAH. The companies also filed 5 claims for compensation for losses caused to the state as a result of unorganized and excessive emissions of pollutants into the air due to an emergency for a total of 10,293,582,88 UAH.

AMKR has already paid this amount in full voluntarily to the state budget of Ukraine.

"It is fair to note that the company admitted its guilt, and the money has already reached the budget in full, although according to the law, it had a month to do so," said People's Deputy Olena Kryvoruchkina.

She also said that inspectors found 18 types of violations based on the results of the inspection of the coke-chemical production. For each of them, they determined different terms of elimination, the maximum of which is 5 months from the date of drawing up the inspection report. All violations that were supposed to be eliminated in August have already been corrected in accordance with the requirements of current legislation.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier on June 23 Kryvyi Rih and surrounding communities were covered dense smoke due to an accident at AMKR. On June 25, we informed that DEI submitted a request for carrying out an unscheduled inspection of AMKR after the accident. Already on June 26, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strelets signed order to conduct an unscheduled inspection of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih PJSC.
