It is not yet known whether the fire was caused by the burning of dry vegetation

In Kyiv, a fire is destroying the greenbelt along the shore of the Sovskie Ponds. The fire has already reached the roadway on Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue.

A video of the massive fire has been posted by the Telegram channel "Real Kyiv."

The wind has blown clouds of toxic smoke from the fire toward a densely populated urban area.

According to experts’ advice, in such situations, people should avoid being outdoors. It is necessary to close all windows and doors and minimize movement within areas with polluted air.

Earlier, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) reported that as of March 23, more than 94,000 hectares of ecosystems had burned in Ukraine. In most cases, the causes of fires are human irresponsibility, particularly the burning of dry grass and careless handling of fire in nature.

EcoPolitic would like to remind everyone that such criminal negligence entails administrative liability. Fines for burning dry grass range from UAH 3,120 to 6,120 for individuals and from UAH 15,300 to 21,420 for officials.

If the consequences of an arson-caused fire are significant, the perpetrator faces criminal liability.

On April 1, the “silence season” began in Ukraine. Any disturbance to animals in nature and green zones, including causing loud noise, is prohibited.
