Comprehensive and timely reporting should help build trust among partners

The Ukrainian government has approved the procedure for preparing the National Report on Progress in the Energy and Climate Sectors. The authorities are convinced that this mechanism will make it possible to clearly track the extent to which Ukraine is fulfilling its commitments to international partners, particularly the European Union.

This was reported by the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture.

The procedure was approved on May 6 by the resolution “Certain Issues Regarding the Preparation of the National Report on Progress in the Energy and Climate Sectors.” This document was developed in accordance with other legal acts—Article 29 of Law of Ukraine No. 3991-IX and EU Implementing Regulation 2022/2299.

“This report reflects the institutional capacity, responsibility, and seriousness of Ukraine's intentions in climate and energy policy. The quality of the report determines the assessment of our progress in fulfilling international obligations and the level of trust in Ukraine as a partner,” said Deputy Minister Oleksandr Krasnolutskyi.

The Ministry of Economy emphasizes that the report is important not only for internal coordination but also for building sufficient trust in Ukrainian institutions among partners. In particular, it will allow the European Union and the Energy Community Secretariat to assess Ukraine's capacity to implement internationally recognized approaches to energy and climate resilience.

Additionally, the document defines areas of responsibility for various central government bodies. This should help avoid inconsistencies in actions and data fragmentation.
