A used battery recycling company in the Lviv region plans to more than double its recycling volumes.
This was reported by the press service of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
Lviv region is home to the only battery recycling and manufacturing company in western Ukraine. The company has modern remote-controlled equipment that allows it to recycle up to 10,000 tons of old batteries per year.
In the future, they plan to increase the recycling volume to 24,000 tons of used batteries per year. According to experts, it will be possible to increase the volume of recycling and production thanks to high mechanization, as this will make recycling much safer and more efficient.
“The inclusion of such enterprises in the regional plan is necessary, as they ensure the safe and environmentally responsible recycling of hazardous waste, in particular lead-acid batteries, which pose a threat to the environment and human health if not managed properly,” said Volodymyr Korda, director of the regional administration's department of ecology and natural resources.
The company pays particular attention to hazardous waste from batteries, as they pose a significant environmental threat if stored or disposed of improperly.
As EcoPolitic wrote earlier, the Lviv region wants to establish a recycling system for worn-out car tires, which pose a threat to the environment if disposed of improperly.
