The investigation reports that the organizer of the unlawful activity is the owner and director of a company specializing in the trade of construction materials and freight transportation.

The suspect inherited a plot of land with an area of 10 hectares in the Petrykivka community and was arranging a pond. However, during 2021–2023, without any permits, he began extracting sand.

The organizer faces punishment for illegal extraction of mineral resources on a large scale (Part 2, Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Currently, the director has been served a motion to select a preventive measure. In addition, the prosecutor has filed a lawsuit seeking confiscation of the suspect's land plot.

As previously reported by EcoPolitics, in the Lviv region, the head of a quarry will stand trial for instructing subordinates to extract sand outside the land plot defined by a special permit for subsoil use.
