The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed Olga Yukhimchuk as Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine for European Integration.

This was announced by government representative in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk on Telegram.

Yukhimchuk became the second deputy who, after being dismissed from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, received a position in another ministry. Prior to this, the government appointed former Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Yegor Perelygin to the position of Deputy Minister in the newly created Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

Three other deputies of former Minister of Environment Svitlana Grynychuk — Viktoria Kireeva, Oleksandr Semenets, and Serhiy Vlasenko — were dismissed by the government on July 25. Nothing is known yet about their appointments to new positions.

According to insider information from EcoPolitics, Olga Yukhimchuk was previously considered for the position of deputy minister of economy, environment, and agriculture of Ukraine under Oleksiy Sobolev in the field of environmental protection. It was planned that she would work in this sector together with Yegor Perelygin.

However, we now see that Svitlana Grynychuk has decided to take her deputy with her to the new ministry. Recall that during the “major reboot” of the Cabinet of Ministers on July 17, the former Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources was appointed head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

We can state that currently, none of the deputies from the Ministry of Environment who have experience in the field of environmental protection have been appointed to leadership positions in the newly created Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture.

Olga Yukhymchuk joined the Ministry of Environment shortly after the appointment of Svitlana Grynychuk in October 2024. The main focus of her work was European integration.
