A solar power plant (SPP) has been installed in Cherkasy region to cover the energy needs of one of the local water utilities.

This was reported by the NGO Ecoclub.

The new solar power plant has a capacity of 52 kW. It is estimated that it will satisfy more than 23% of the annual electricity demand of one of the water utilities in the region. The company supplies drinking water to 11,000 consumers, 250 private and budgetary institutions and organizations in two localities.

The power plant together with the generator will ensure the supply of the required minimum amount of water to consumers, which is approximately 445 m³ per day. Additionally, the use of renewable energy will reduce the load on the community's power grid.

The solar station will save the company approximately UAH 225 thousand annually. The community will be able to use these funds to upgrade equipment, repair infrastructure or other needs.

In November, EcoPolitic reported that a solar power plant was launched in Rohatyn, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, to support the uninterrupted operation of the local water treatment plant. We also recently told you about the Geneva Dnipro condominium, which will save about half a million hryvnias by installing a solar power plant on its own apartment building.
