Officials of the Department of Environmental Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change of the KMDA plan to develop and approve official rules for the use and placement of generators for businesses and citizens.
The director of the Department, Oleksandr Vozniy, said this in an interview for the joint project of "Kyiv FM" and "Vechirnyi Kyiv".
He said that the requirements of the legislation provide for obtaining a permit for any source of emissions. The official noted that during martial law, the process of granting such permits was simplified as much as possible: it is enough to submit a declaration that will allow state authorities to control the number of emission sources, and entrepreneurs to work legally.
Oleksandr Voznyi says that since the energy supply has been stable recently, there are no complaints from the residents of Kyiv about the operation of the generators. But at the same time, the official noted that last year there were quite a lot of complaints about their use.
According to the Director of the Department, the generator is actually an internal combustion engine without a cleaning system. He compared the generator to one extra car without a cleaning system operating in the city.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote about the harm to health are carried by generators . So, diesel and gasoline generators create noise at the level of 88-95 dB with regulatory indicators up to 55 dB during the day and 45 dB at night. Also, during their work, toxic exhaust gases and soot enter the air, which negatively affects human health and the environment. We also talked about the situation for Ukrainians will have to pay eco-tax for generators.
