The head of the Ministry of Environment claims that it will create all the conditions for the initiation and effective operation of new projects in the field of green recovery in Ukraine

During the Ukraine Recovery Conference-2024 (URC2024), an agreement was signed to establish an International Action Platform for the Green Recovery of Ukraine. Agreements, memorandums and contracts in the energy sector were also signed to help Ukraine build 1 GW of generating capacity in the future.

This was reported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine and First Vice Prime Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.

The idea to create the platform was expressed in October 2023 by Steffi Lemke, Minister of the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection. And now it has been put into practice: a joint statement on the launch of the platform was signed by Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Tetiana Molchan, Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme Inger Andersen and Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Mathias Korman.

According to the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ruslan Strilets, the platform will be an effective mechanism for attracting the experience and expert potential of the world's leading countries to the green recovery of Ukraine, as well as a center for exchanging the latest developments and ideas.

The Federal Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection of Germany has already announced the financial support of the International Action Platform for the Green Restoration of Ukraine in the amount of €5 million.

Also, Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyridenko said that according to the results of the URC2024 conference, there are already a number of companies that are ready to enter the Ukrainian market and will help in the future to build 1 GW of generating capacity. At the same time, the volume of potential investments can amount to €500-700 million.

In March, EcoPolitic reported on the presentation of research on the needs of sustainable and ecologically conscious recovery of the state economy.

We also told that Ukraine Green Recovery Conference was held in Vilnius – a four-day conference "Green Recovery of Ukraine", during which the current environmental damage from the war, as well as strategies and concrete solutions for green recovery were discussed.
