It should contribute to the rapid recovery of our country

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has officially approved the Reform Matrix and the procedure for monitoring the implementation of recommendations and conditions provided to Ukraine by international partners. This is a huge plan of changes that systematizes reforms and covers, in particular, the Ukraine Facility Program Plan with green transition reforms inclusive.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

He noted that there is a clear prioritization, sequencing and assessment of the impact of each reform on the growth of the Ukrainian economy and the recovery of our country.

"This matrix was created with the assistance of the World Bank, and the foreseen reforms were analyzed according to the methodology of the Growth Center of Harvard University. More than 200 reforms are planned for 2024. About 400 indicators of their implementation have been created," said Denys Shmyhal.

We will remind you that the Plan for the €50 billion Ukraine Facility financial support program envisages 6 reforms within the framework of the green transition. They include:

  • combating industrial pollution;
  • climate neutrality course;
  • the market of quotas for harmful emissions;
  • combating illegal deforestation;
  • waste management and departure from the resource economy;
  • environmental impact assessment and strategic environmental assessment.

These reforms are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN regarding the fight against climate change and its consequences, and are also aimed at the development of Ukraine according to European standards.

In addition to approving the Matrix of reforms, the Government is launching a special web portal where all indicators, content of reforms, and schedule of their implementation are collected. According to Denys Shmyhal, every person will be able to see in real time that Ukraine is changing.

We will definitely use the opportunity to monitor the progress of ecoreforms online.

In March, EcoPolitic reported that Ukraine handed over the Ukraine Facility Plan to the European Commission.
