At the same time, the occupiers do not even try to eliminate the problems that they themselves have caused

The illegal authorities have been destroying the ecosystems of Mariupol for two years of occupation due to their indifference and negligence. Garbage dumps have been set up in all districts of the city, and sewage flows into the Sea of Azov without any treatment.

This was reported by the Mariupol City Council on its Telegram channel.

According to officials, the city's sewage problems have reached a collapse. A "river" of sewage has already formed in Leporsky Park.

"At first, constant breakthroughs and flooding of houses, and now parks. In two years, the invaders did not manage to replace the engineering networks, nor to create an effective utility company. A complete fiasco," the city council stated.

Another victim of the occupiers was the local river Kalchyk, which is becoming more and more polluted. Residents of Mariupol complain that waste from a concrete plant is dumped near it in the area of the village of Richne, Kalmius district.Telegram/Маріупольська міська рада

"In the past, fishermen used to go to this bridge to catch fish. And now it's a milky river," they are outraged.

Currently, a large part of Kalchik is simply covered with earth and slag.

In June 2022, EcoPolitic reported that the streets of Russian-occupied Mariupol were filled with almost 9,000 tons of garbage, which had not been removed since February.

At the same time, the city faced with the problem of poisonous smog from the fire at the preserved landfill.

In May of last year, EcoPolitic reported that occupiers decided to combine Starokrym and Pavlopil reservoirs without observing all critical conditions.
