Harmful emissions into the atmosphere, in particular nitrogen oxide, are a violation of the Law of Ukraine

The Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of Cherkasy Region has filed 2 lawsuits for damages of more than UAH 4 million against companies that polluted the air with harmful emissions.

This was reported by the press service of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office on Facebook.

It is reported that gross violations of air protection legislation were found in the Cherkasy region. This was the basis for the prosecutor's response.

Currently, the specialized environmental prosecutor's office of Cherkasy region has filed 2 lawsuits to recover compensation in the amount of more than UAH 4 million from enterprises, including the heat supplier of Cherkasy.

"Harmful emissions into the atmospheric air, in particular nitrogen oxide, are a violation of the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of Atmospheric Air". Criminal proceedings have already been registered for this fact under Article 241 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the press service notes.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Mykolaiv "Dykiy Sad LTD" LLC reimbursed 610 thousand hryvnias for air pollution, the fact of which was discovered by eco-inspectors in 2019.
