Environmental activists from the Kharkiv Zero Waste NGO have announced the opening of their own plastic recycling workshop.
The workshop is scheduled to open on March 30, according to the community's Facebook page.
"Now, in addition to accepting recyclable materials for further shipment to recyclers, we will try something really new, namely, recycling a certain amount of plastic ourselves," the environmental activists emphasized.
They said that with the support of Slovenia, they managed to purchase a plastic shredder and an extruder, i.e. equipment for the manufacture of new materials from polymers.
"With inspiration and faith in a bright future, we promote the ideas of conscious consumption," the environmental activists emphasized.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Underground sorting station in Dnipro accepts about 50 types of recyclable materials and makes benches, ceiling tiles, handbags and bracelets from plastic. At the station, the plastic is shredded and melted in a furnace. Then the raw material is pressed to make plates.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Liubotyn, Kharkiv region, 16 m3 composters helped avoid the release of 2644 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions into the atmosphere, which would have been generated during the decomposition of organic waste at a landfill.
