45% of eco-taxes go to the state budget, 30% to the regional budget, and 25% remain in the local budget

In Lviv region, polluting enterprises have paid UAH 33.4 million in environmental tax since the beginning of 2024.

Of this amount, UAH 9.7 million went to a special regional environmental protection fund, the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration reports on Facebook.

It is noted that companies pay environmental tax for the actual volume:

  • emissions into atmospheric air;
  • discharged pollutants into water bodies;
  • placement of waste;
  • generated radioactive waste;
  • volume of radioactive waste accumulated by April 1, 2009.

This tax is divided between the state, regional and local budgets, with 45% going to the state, 30% to the regional budget, and the remaining 25% remaining at the local level.

"Collected funds are directed to nature conservation funds and are used exclusively for the implementation of nature conservation and resource conservation measures aimed at preserving and protecting the natural environment and combating pollution," the message emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Lviv Oblast has approved a budget for the Environmental Protection Program for 2024 in the amount of UAH 49.2 million.

Earlier, EcoPolitic asked the State Tax Service for clarification on the change in the eco-tax rate for discharges of pollutants into water bodies, which increased to 90 percent of the established rates on January 1.
