Environmental inspectors have calculated 34 million hryvnias in environmental damage from just one of the numerous shellings of Kherson in November 2023.

On that day, 300 m2 of the territory was contaminated as a result of a fire and the destruction of a former cinema building, the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southern District reports on Facebook.

It is noted that environmental inspectors took soil samples and examined them in the laboratory. The analysis showed an excess of cadmium, copper, nickel, and lead.

The press service emphasized that the fire over an area of more than 2000 m2 also released a mixture of pollutants into the atmosphere.

"The case file was sent to the Operational Headquarters of the State Environmental Inspectorate and law enforcement agencies," the statement added.

It is noted that environmental inspectors examined the site of the shelling to record the damage caused to the environment of Kherson.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the head of the press center of the operational command "South" Nataliya Humenyuk reported that in the Kherson region the occupiers are destroying the coast and black soil. They are using prohibited weapons that destroy and burn all ecosystems.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, eco-inspectors calculated almost 5 billion hryvnias in damages for the ecosystem of the Kamianska Sich National Nature Park as a result of a large-scale invasion.
