At least 900 trees destroyed in Zaporizhzhia over a year and not a single one planted

In 2022, 1,889 trees were cut down in the city

In Zaporizhzhia, in 2023, at least 905 trees were cut down in squares, parks, and other green areas, and none were planted.

However, the budget for greening the city in 2023 reached 152.6 million hryvnias, journalist Ivan Kulya reports on Facebook.

Kulya emphasized that during the year, the city's districts were removed:

  • 61 trees – in Komunarsky district;
  • 29 – in Khortytskyi;
  • 140 – in Dniprovskyi;
  • 272 – in Oleksandrivskyi;
  • 403 – in Voznesenivskyi;
  • 194 – in Shevchenkivskyi;
  • information about the Factory District is being prepared.

"And not a single planted tree," he noted, adding that in 2022, money for planting was also not allocated, but 1,889 trees were cut down in the city.

According to his data, in 2023, 152.6 million hryvnias were allocated for landscaping and maintenance of parks, squares, beaches and fountains, and in 2022 – 114.2 million hryvnias. Expenses for removal of leaves, snow removal, grass mowing and tree trimming reached 46.5 million hryvnias in 2023 and 49.5 million hryvnias in 2022.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Zaporizhzhia, in the Stepnohorsk community, "black loggers" tried to pay 5 thousand hryvnias as a bribe to the police, who exposed them during illegal felling of trees.
