Furnaces work without any dust and gas cleaning equipment

In Zaporizhzhia, rubber burning furnaces were found in Zavodskyi district, with smoke polluting the air.

The territory of the enterprise is heavily littered with rubber waste, tires, and covered with a layer of soot, the press service of the Zaporizhzhia City Council reports.

It is noted that the territory was inspected by a mobile group of law enforcement officers, representatives of the city council and the State Environmental Inspectorate. They examined the area with potential sources of air pollution, which was identified using a map of the spread of pollution.

The commission members found that the furnaces were operating at the time of the inspection and were emitting gray smoke with a pungent acrid odor. The furnaces were not equipped with dust and gas cleaning equipment.

"Next to the furnaces, at a distance of tens of meters, there were waste rubber, tires, as well as waste after incineration. The area at the indicated address is very littered and covered with a layer of soot. There was a strong smell of burning rubber," the report says.

It is noted that the fact of violation of environmental legislation was recorded by prosecutors, police officers and eco-inspectors.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in June in Zaporizhzhia, in the Shevchenkivsky district, an entrepreneur resumed the activity of burning circuit boards, plastic and rubber in an artisanal furnace, as a result of which thick black smoke rises into the air. Local residents complained of a strong stench in the air.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in August in the industrial zone of the Shevchenkiv district of Zaporizhzhia, it was discovered that an entrepreneur had installed a homemade furnace in which he remelts batteries. This activity produces black smoke with a very unpleasant smell.
