The government also made changes to the Procedures for verifying the operator's report on greenhouse gas emissions and monitoring and reporting

On Tuesday, November 14, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made changes to the List of activities, the emissions of greenhouse gases as a result of which are subject to monitoring, reporting and verification.

The changes expand the list of types of activities, namely regulate the production of glass and fiberglass with a melting capacity of more than 20 tons per day, reports government representative in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk on Telegram.

He explained that such activity is more in line with Directive No. 2003/87/EU in the part related to the system of monitoring, reporting and verification of greenhouse gas emissions.

Melnychuk noted that the government also made changes to the Procedure for verifying the operator's report on greenhouse gas emissions. They provide opportunities for on-site verification in the presence of a threat to life and health as a result of hostilities and clarification of the standards by which the verifier is accredited.

He added that the Cabinet of Ministers also made changes to the Procedure for Monitoring and Reporting on Greenhouse Gas Emissions. They concern:

  • extension of the term for the operator to submit changes to the Monitoring Plan;
  • continuation of the "transitional period" of the implementation of the system of monitoring, reporting and verification of greenhouse gas emissions, etc.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in June, The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the Procedure for maintaining the National Register of Emissions and Transfer of Pollutants.
