Prosecutors in Ternopil Oblast launched a pre-trial investigation into the contamination of the land of a former farm with expired pesticides in the Kremenets district.

Part of the hazardous waste has been in the open for a long time without any packaging, the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office reports on Facebook.

It is noted that the case was opened due to the fact of improper storage of unsuitable chemical means of plant protection, which caused pollution under Part 1 of Article 239 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The press service said that L only after the start of the pre-trial investigation, the village council decided to transfer funds to the regional budget for co-financing of environmentally safe collection, transportation, storage, processing, disposal, removal, neutralization and burial of waste and hazardous chemicals.

"In addition, other measures are currently being taken to dispose of and dispose of hazardous chemicals," the report said.

It is noted that the investigation is carried out by police investigators.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Odesa region, a dump with 147 tons of insecticide DDT, which was located on the coast of Khadzhibey estuary since 1979, was removed.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Chernihiv Oblast, the first 7 tons of unusable PPE (chemical plant protection products) that do not have established owners were taken away for disposal from the villages of Kalynivka and Bilovezh. In 2023, it is planned to remove 45 tons of such spoiled pesticides from the territory of the entire region.
