In Chernihiv region to the director of the Pryluk utility company was informed about the suspicion of contamination of land with hazardous waste, which caused losses of more than 32 million hryvnias.

The official organized the removal of 80 tons of drilling mud to the city landfill, the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reports on Facebook.

It is noted that the official is suspected of improper performance of official duties. After all, he concluded a contract for the removal of sludge to a landfill, knowing for sure that the landfill cannot accept particularly hazardous waste.

"The man's illegal actions led to the contamination of the land, which created a danger for the environment and caused serious consequences," the report says.

The press service emphasized that the sludge contaminated 0.8 hectares of land. Currently, the question of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved.

The examination showed that the content of oil products in the soil exceeded the maximum permissible norm by 28 times. The level of metal content is also exceeded.

It is noted that three more persons involved in the removal of drilling mud were previously informed of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense. A pre-trial investigation is being completed regarding them.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Chernihiv Oblast, the first 7 tons of unsuitable pesticides, which have no established owners, were taken away for disposal from the villages of Kalynivka and Bilovezh.
