Black loggers destroyed 977 trees in Rivne region in Sarne district, which caused 2.9 million hryvnias worth of damage.

The trees were cut down on the forest reserves of the Rokytniv settlement council, the State Environmental Inspection of the Polissky District reports on Facebook.

It is noted that 912 trees were destroyed near the village of Rokytne, and 65 in Osnytska.

The report said that the perpetrators have not yet been identified. If this does not happen, the damage will be compensated by the local self-government body. Eco-inspectors presented claim Rokytnivska to the village council for voluntary compensation.

It is noted that the case materials were handed over to the police.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Rivne region, two residents of the Saran district will be tried for cutting down 5 trees in the botanical reserve "Zalavskyi". They face a fine of 25,500 hryvnias or imprisonment for three to five years.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a group of 10 Ukrzaliznytsia employees were exposed in Kharkiv Oblast, who were illegally cutting down trees and selling them, as well as using the company's equipment and fuel. Only in August-October 2023, they caused losses of more than 1 million hryvnias.
