In Kyiv, the Northern Commercial Court of Appeal found the lease of 19.72 hectares of land near Lake Vyrlytsia in Kyiv, where they planned to build a shopping, entertainment and office center, illegal.
The court also obliged the lessee LLC "Mriya-Invest" to vacate the plot and bring it back to the original state, according to the PAGS website.
The court established that the plot is the shallow marshy part of Lake Vyrlytsia bordering Bazhana Avenue. It is included in the limits of the project legacy of the natural complex within the limits of the 100-meter coastal protective strip and the water protection zone of the lake. That is, these are the lands of the water fund.
It is noted that a large part of this territory is covered by water. Its marshy floodplains are the only islands of the natural ecosystem, home to rare birds, plants and spawning grounds of 3 species of red-listed fish species.
As you know, in 2012 "Dream-Invest" began to cover Vyrlytsia, one of the largest natural lakes in Kyiv, with sand.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in April 2021 developers of Lake Vyrlytsia in Kyiv destroyed bird nests and buried fish spawning. In May 2021, activists held a campaign "Let's protect Vyrlytsia!", during which the participants tried to dismantle the fence that encloses the territory of illegal construction.
As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Kyiv, the unique Blue Lake has dried up, which is in the Podilsky district near the Vynogradar housing estate, which officials promised to save. The lake disappeared, in particular, due to the construction of a high-rise building, which was never completed.
