The Ukrainian converted the ZAZ-1102 "Tavria" into an electric car with solar panels, which can travel about 50 km on a single charge.

The car can be fully charged in 2 hours when connected to a 220V power source, reports Hyser Media.

It is noted that the conversion of the car lasted about a year. The owner spent $7,000 on it, including the purchase of Tavria. The electric car is equipped with a BLDS engine with a peak power of 20 kW (27 hp).

The material said that a compact lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 6.3 kWh was installed in the car, which stores energy and powers the electric motor. In addition, the SES on the roof of the car provides an additional source of energy for charging the battery.

The developer said that "Tavria" can accelerate up to 90 km/h. He has a car special green number plates and his gas hatch is covered with a sticker. Also, the electric car does not have an exhaust pipe.

"This is an innovative and environmentally friendly approach to converting an old car into an electric car, which demonstrates the possibilities of environmentally safe transport. The car has already covered a considerable distance without any problems, emphasizing its practicality and efficiency for city driving," the article says.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in August 2023, Ukrainians purchased 3.8 thousand electric cars.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the Netherlands, students of the Delft Technical University developed the Eco-Runner XIII hydrogen car, which drove 2,488.45 km on 950 g of hydrogen. The project entered the Guinness Book of Records.
