This is not the first similar accident in Sumy region

In the Sumy region, in the Chernechchyn community, an emergency oil spill occurred, which contaminated 250 m2 of land in a forest belt on a corn field.

The outlet line was depressurized at well No. 452 of the Bugruvativskoye deposit of TsVNG-1, the State Environmental Inspection in the Sumy region reports on Facebook.

It is noted that eco-inspectors took soil samples for laboratory research.

Okhtyrkanaftogaz PJSC Ukrnafta PJSC reported that their specialists are eliminating the consequences of the accident on their own. In addition, they have already started collecting the oil-containing mixture.

As is well known, the ingress of oil into the soil reduces its fertility. In it, the nitrogen regime significantly deteriorates, the CO2 content increases, salinization and radioactive pollution occur, the number of microorganisms and other animals that inhabit the soil and help in its aeration, such as earthworms, significantly decreases.

This is not the first similar accident in Sumy Oblast. Thus, in September 2021, due to the depressurization of the oil collection collector of the Bugruvatsky field at the "Okhtyrkanaftogaz" enterprise, a large-scale oil spill occurred in a corn field. The area of contamination reached 0.35 hectares.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in November 2021 an oil spill occurred, as a result of which 210 m2 of plowed field was contaminated. The accident occurred due to depressurization of the Lutyshche-Kachanivka oil pipeline.
