The forest could become a place for future construction

In Kyiv, the Court of Appeal overturned the decision of the Buchansk City Council to increase the territory of the village of Kotsyubynske by 3,000 hectares at the expense of a plot in the Belychansk Forest, which is part of the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park.

The site is a part of Kyiv and has a nature conservation status, it reports Oleksandr Vozny, Head of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the KMDA, on Facebook.

He emphasized that the position of Kyiv and Mayor Vitaliy Klychka was clear – the protected area should remain a forest, and not a place for possible development.

Vozny added that the attempt of the Buchansk City Council to change the boundaries of the capital is unacceptable. After all, it is established exclusively by the Verkhovna Rada.

"We welcome the decision of the appeals court and we hope that the court of cassation will put an end to this case, and the rights of the Kyiv community to the Bilichan forest will be finally protected," he said.

Earlier, Ecopolitic wrote, that in April, the Court of Justice returned 1,500 m2 of land worth 6 million UAH to the Belychansky Forest of Kyiv, which is part of the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park. The plot was in private ownership.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Kyiv, volunteers cleaned more than 10 tons of garbage from the Holosiiv National Nature Park on the first day of the All-Ukrainian clean-up march.
