The struggle for the Bilichan forest lasted for about 14 years

The court returned land worth 6 million hryvnias to Kyiv's Bilichan Forest, which is part of the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park.

The disputed plot of the forest fund with an area of 1,500 m2 was returned from private property, the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reports on Facebook.

It is noted that this became possible thanks to the work of the prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office.

"This area of particularly valuable land was seized by the Kotsyubyn settlement council from the land user in violation of the requirements of the law, namely without the appropriate consent of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine," the press service emphasized.

The Bilichan Forest is located on 4,000 hectares in the Svyatoshyn district of Kyiv. They sought to expand the boundaries of the village of Kotsyubynske at the expense of the forest.

The struggle for these areas lasted for about 14 years.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that public figure Maksym Bakhmatov and Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Oleksandr Krasnolutsky held a series of meetings to save Holosiivskyi National Park in Kyiv. In particular, they discussed the problems of building the Bilichan forest.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Kyiv, the territory of the Holosiiv National Park was increased by 838.1 hectares, i.e. from 12.8% to 20.4%. From now on, the area of the protected zone reaches 2,246.33 hectares.
