Thanks to the station, it is possible to detect fire and burning leaves

Thanks to the support of the European Union, the Nizhyn community in Chernihiv Region received two air quality monitoring stations.

This will make it possible to receive air quality indicators in real time on the community's website, the Nizhyn City Council reports on Facebook.

The message emphasized that pollution with fine dust can shorten a person's life and lead to serious diseases.

Anastasia Skok, environmental director of the NGO SaveDnipro, explained that these air quality monitoring stations do not require any additional equipment. They can be installed on the outside of the building, for example at the second floor level, connected to the network and Wi-Fi and they will work.

"If there's a big fire, or leaves are burning somewhere, you can immediately see it thanks to this station," she said.

The press service emphasized that independent air monitoring will become a powerful tool for residents of Nizhyn.

"It will be interesting to receive objective information about air pollution. I think we really need it. In fact, any resident of the city will be able to go to the site and see air data," said the mayor Oleksandr Kodola.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Chernihiv Regional Council approved an additional list of expenses of the Regional Environmental Protection Fund for 2023 in the amount of 2.78 million hryvnias. Among other things, this money will be spent on the removal of 44.5 tons of unsuitable pesticides (chemical plant protection products) from the territory of 10 communities.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Ivano-Frankivsk, a meeting of the state monitoring commission for air quality protection and management was held, at which the plan for improvement of air quality for 2023-2027 was considered.
