Representatives of the World Economic Forum, Kyiv Digital and Deloitte held a founding meeting, the key topic of which was the creation of the largest energy-independent hub in Central and Eastern Europe in Kyiv.
Smart energy and smart networks will be one of the main applications of the system that these specialists are working on, Evening Kyiv reports.
Petro Panteleev, deputy chairman of the KMDA, emphasized that energy stability and efficiency were and are key components of Kyiv's development.
"Thousands of energy-efficient projects have been implemented in Kyiv over the past few years in buildings – residential buildings, kindergartens, hospitals, which allowed to reduce energy consumption in them. With the beginning of the war, the development of solutions for more flexible functioning of energy systems and strengthening of physical protection of energy infrastructure became more relevant than ever" , – he said.
It is noted that the meeting was devoted to how to increase the city's energy sustainability thanks to the strategic implementation of the city's digital double. The company's experts and representatives from the public and private sectors discussed and provided key recommendations on how to:
- to turn Kyiv into a city with zero energy consumption;
- maintain sustainable and stable critical infrastructure.
"During the full-scale invasion, critical energy infrastructure for the supply, production and transmission of electricity was damaged. Therefore, efforts to rebuild Kyiv after the war must take into account the evolution of the energy system and response scenarios to both external threats and sustainable energy solutions for the city," he said. Oleg Polovynko, adviser to the Mayor of Kyiv.
It is noted that Kyiv is planned to turn into the largest carbon-neutral hub in Central and Eastern Europe, thanks to the best digital opportunities based on:
- open data;
- artificial intelligence to create a digital double that can provide important inside information and the best energy solution support
As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Kyiv, a high-rise building in the Obolon district entered the TOP-10 best energy-efficient buildings in Europe.
