Rescuers urged Ukrainians not to burn dry grass and garbage, which often causes fires in ecosystems.
Such actions are a violation of the legislation, for which fines of up to 21,420 hryvnias are threatened, reports the Head Office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Rivne region.
"We advise citizens to forget about the barbaric practice of burning dry grass together with the green fund of our region," the rescuers emphasized.
It is noted that in order to avoid fires in ecosystems, the following rules must be followed:
- do not burn dry grass and garbage, polluting the environment and provoking fires in the ecosystem;
- to help the rescuers, and not to give them extra work in the form of extinguishing the consequences of "cleaning";
- to inform the police about palys and, if possible, have preventive conversations with neighbors who ignore warnings and rules.
Fines for burning dry grass and garbage:
- for citizens – from UAH 3,060 to UAH 6,120 (from one hundred and eighty to three hundred and sixty non-taxable minimum incomes);
- for officials – from UAH 15,300 to UAH 21,420 (from nine hundred to one thousand two hundred and sixty non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens).
Arbitrary burning of the remains of dry vegetation under Article 77-1 of the Criminal Procedure Code entails the imposition of a fine:
- for citizens – UAH 170-340 (from ten to twenty tax-free minimum incomes of citizens);
- for officials – UAH 850-1,530 (from fifty to seventy tax-free minimum incomes of citizens).

As EcoPolitic previously reported, from March 2022 in Ukraine, dry burning is considered sabotage and a criminal offense, for which a punishment of 10 to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property is provided.
