In Kyiv on Sunday, August 27, three temperature records were recorded, including the average daily air temperature exceeding the climatic norm by 8.0°C.

This was reported by the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Boris Sreznevsky on Facebook, according to observations from the weather station.

It is noted that Sunday night in Kyiv was the warmest, because the temperature did not drop below +21.3°C. This is 0.8°C higher than the previous record value of 2022.

The report emphasized that the maximum air temperature in the afternoon reached +33.3°C and repeated the previous record figure of 1943.

"The average daily air temperature was the highest during the observation period and amounted to +26.9°C, which exceeded the previous record figure last year by 2.3°C," the observatory said.

Recall, scientists of the Institute of Space Research. Goddard (GISS) NASA in New York recognised this July as the hottest July on record.

As EcoPolitics previously reported, in early August, the EU climate change service Copernicus recorded a new record for the average daily global sea surface temperature (20.96°C). The oceans are soaking up heat from climate change, with catastrophic consequences for the health of the planet.
