Ukrainian animal rights activists publicly appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers with a demand to create conditions for the evacuation of not only people, but also animals from the flooded area of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
They urge not to leave the fate of animals only under the care of volunteers and public organizations, says the Facebook page of the Association of Animal Protection Organizations of Ukraine.
Animal rights activists emphasized that the government had information about the mining of the Kakhovska HPP.
"What was expected from the enemy? This is the expectation. Have they prepared to evacuate people and animals from the region, which is under threat?", they wrote.
Animal rights activists from the organization UAnimals urged residents of the flooded area not to leave their pets behind and to evacuate with them. And if this is not possible, untie and release them to give the animals a chance to survive on their own.
"We appeal to shelters, rehabilitation centers and animal volunteers in the zone of potential flooding: you are not alone! If you need help with the evacuation of animals, write to us in private messages! We will do everything possible to save the animals," they wrote.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, on the night of June 6, the Russian invaders blew up the dam at the Kakhovsky HPP. Evacuation has begun in Kherson Oblast.
