The criminal case of the former head of the enterprise is being considered in court

The Economic Court of the Cherkasy region decided to recover 12 million UAH from the enterprise for the extraction of subsoil of national importance.

The enterprise mined 4,200 m3 of gneiss stones without special permission, the Cherkasy regional prosecutor's office reports on Facebook.

The report said that the court satisfied the prosecutor's claim in full.

"After the court decision enters into legal force, the prosecutor's office will take measures to organize its real execution," the press service stressed.

Prosecutors added that the indictment against the former head of the enterprise is pending in court. He is accused under Part 4 of Article 240 of the Criminal Code (Violation of the rules for the protection or use of subsoil, illegal mining). The punishment includes imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.

The press service noted that minerals are non-renewable natural resources, the geological rate of formation of which is much less than the rate of consumption.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Economic Court of the Cherkasy region exacted almost 500 thousand UAH from the utility company CHELUASH for polluting the Dnieper River with sewage.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a criminal scheme of a company that, under the guise of an agricultural company, extracted 150,000 tons of sand and gravel for 405 million UAH, was uncovered in Transcarpathia near Tyachiv.
