In the air of Kyiv during the week from April 17 to 22, an excess of the average daily maximum permissible concentration of nitrogen dioxide by 3.3 times was detected.
Compared to the previous week, the level of sulfur dioxide pollution has slightly decreased, according to the weekly report on air pollution from the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.
According to the data of the observatory, the exceedance of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) in terms of the average daily content of sulfur dioxide was:
- 1.5-2.0 times - on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Obolonski and Beresteski avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark district, Akademik Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska and Semyon Sklyarenko streets ;
- no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).
Other exceedances of MPC by average daily content:
- formaldehyde – 1.1-2.3 times on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Obolonski and Beresteyska avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademik Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenka, Hetman Pavla Polubotka, Kaunaska and Sklyarenko streets ;
- nitrogen dioxide – 1.3-3.3 times on Demiivska, Bessarabska, and Halytska squares, Obolonski, Nauka, and Beresteski avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademik Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, and Sklyarenko streets;
- carbon monoxide – 1.5 times (April 17) on Halytskyi Square.
Specialists of the observatory collected and analyzed 1,608 samples of atmospheric air from 16 stationary posts.
It is noted that compared to the previous week, the level of formaldehyde and nitrogen dioxide pollution has slightly increased.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, 15 cherry blossoms were planted by the Azov regiment on Heroiv Street in Obolonsky district of Kyiv, which will help raise money for the purchase of 15 sets of equipment necessary for soldiers.
