Foamed polyethylene, which is often used for packing equipment and fragile items, has begun to be recycled in Kyiv.

This material will become a raw material for plastic bags, reports the public organization "Ukraine without garbage" on its Facebook page.

Traditionally, foamed polyethylene has the form of solid blocks or a flexible matte film.

Eco-activists said that they finally managed to find a recycler for the foamed polyethylene. He will grind it and sell it to a producer of plastic pellets, which will then be used to make plastic bags.

UBS emphasized that the station will accept foamed polyethylene if it:

  • clean;
  • dry;
  • without tape and stickers;
  • without silver dusting.

The sorting station is located at ul. Saperno-Slobidska, 25/4 and is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The station will also be open on April 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

White and colored material will be collected separately at the sorting station. This will help reduce the amount of garbage sent to incineration.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the garbage sorting station of the public organization "Ukraine without garbage" resumed its work in Kyiv.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, recycling points in Kyiv Region have updated their work schedule in Irpen, Buch, Gostomel, Kotsyubinsky, Vorzel, and Borodyanka.
