IMPEL's mission is to ensure the effective implementation and enforcement of European environmental law

The State Environmental Inspection has joined the EU Network for Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law (IMPEL).

This will allow Ukraine to ensure effective control over compliance with environmental legislation, exchange experience and develop joint eco-strategies with other member countries, the State Environmental Inspection reports in Telegram.

"This is a huge step in the development of Ukraine's environmental policy, as IMPEL is the largest network of state control bodies for compliance with environmental legislation in Europe," the press service emphasized.

It is noted that from now on the State Environmental Inspection will be able to participate in international projects and programs on environmental protection, ensuring environmental safety and reducing the impact of human activity on the environment.

"This will open up new opportunities for improving the quality of the environment and increasing the degree of its protection in Ukraine," the press service explained.

The message emphasized that the State Inspectorate was invited to the General Assembly of IMPEL, which will be held on June 8 and 9 in Stockholm, Sweden. The Board of the Network noted that it was very interested in the meeting.

The press service added that IMPEL's mission is to ensure effective implementation and enforcement of European environmental law. For this purpose, the Network promotes:

  • professional cooperation;
  • exchange of information and best practices between nature protection authorities.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, Ukraine may become a member of the climate club of the European Union.
