Police investigate illegal hunting

In the Zhytomyr region in the Korostyshevsky forestry foreman found the remains of the carcass of a female elk, which also bore a cub.

The Red Book animal was boldly killed by poachers, the Capital Forest Office reports on Facebook.

It is noted that the killing of the animal was immediately reported to the user of the hunting grounds. The police were also called to the scene to investigate the fact of illegal hunting.

“Moose hunting is prohibited in Ukraine. This animal is included in the Red Book of Ukraine. Such an offense is punishable by a fine or restriction of freedom for up to three years,” the press service noted.

The message stressed that the violator must reimburse 195 thousand hryvnia. Indeed, for a killed European elk, the amount of compensation reaches 130 thousand hryvnias, and another 50% of the fee due to the fact that the female was pregnant.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that poachers killed three wild boars in Volhynia in the Vladimir-Volyn forestry and hunting farm. This is a gross violation of the rules of hunting, because hunting during martial law is prohibited.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, ecologists from the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center (KECC) criticized the actions of the police of the Boryspil regional department regarding poachers who brutally killed a deer in the reserve. Law enforcement officers returned the car to the attackers, and improvised means, such as a thermal imager, do not appear in the case file at all.
