In the Rivne region, the Volyn-cement plant in Zdolbunov plans to start burning industrial and chemical waste from its activities.

Eco-activists from the public organization "Ekoklub" on Facebook called on the public to submit comments and suggestions to the environmental impact assessment report by April 13 in order to influence potentially dangerous activities.

The plant is located near residential areas, and the city itself is located 12 km from Rivne.

Eco-activists noted that dioxins, furans, and heavy metals may enter the air from such planned activities. These substances will potentially settle on the territories of residential areas, agricultural areas, the coast of Lake Basiv Kut.

"Their long-term inhalation can cause the development of oncological and cardiovascular diseases," they emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that they want to build an asphalt plant near the newly created Fairy Yar reserve in the Vasylkivska community of Kyiv region. The most popular and picturesque part of the ravine was not included in the nature protection zone and should become the sanitary zone of the new enterprise.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Rivne community received a European grant for $972.5 thousand, almost 40 million hryvnias, to combat climate change within the framework of the NetZeroCities program.
