The number of people who believe that they can protect nature has decreased significantly

The sociological survey "War and the environment. A study of the values and practices of environmental protection in the conditions of war and post-war reconstruction" showed that 91.1% of respondents consider climate change a big or rather a big problem.

Despite the war, environmental protection continues to be important for 95% of Ukrainians, reports the resource-analytical center "Society and Environment" on Facebook.

It is noted that the survey was conducted by "Society and Environment" specialists together with the research agency Fama.

They found that 87.4% of Ukrainians believe that environmental problems have a direct impact on their daily life and health.

"There is a sharp reduction in the share of citizens who believe that they can change something in this area," the authors said.

The study showed that only 65.9% of respondents agree that they can play a role in protecting the environment. In 2018, this indicator reached 86.6%.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the study "Opinions and views of the population of Ukraine regarding the ecological consequences of the war" showed that Ukrainians consider mining of agricultural lands, radiation contamination and water pollution to be the most critical problems.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, an international study by the GlobeScan consulting company showed that fear of climate change forces 40% of people to avoid having children.
