The company is working on innovations for other materials

American lingerie retailer Victoria's Secret has unveiled the Forever Bra with 100% recyclable elements.

This is a step forward in solving the problem of textile waste for underwear, which after use most often ends up in landfills, according to Bloomberg.

The material said that Forever Bra has pads made from a patented fabric. Traditional bra pads contain polyurethane foam, a material that cannot be melted and pressed.

Customers can return the bras to any Victoria's Secret store in the US, and the pads will be taken away for recycling. Partners of the company will help to collect, sort and disassemble bras. They will then be sent to Unifi, an innovative textile recycling company. And bras in good condition will be given to other people.bloomberg.com

The material noted that this bra, like others, contains cords and fasteners that cannot be recycled. Those details that are essential to the product's structure, which are mostly made from tiny bits of plastic and metal, remain a challenging aspect of designing more sustainable bras.

Victoria's Secret said that while pads are the only item in the Forever bra that can be recycled, the company is working on innovations for other materials.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Scandinavian brand Gianni has launched a P2P (Person-to-Person) clothing resale platform to make second-hand shopping hassle-free.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the village of Stena in the Vinnytsia region, local craftswomen process tons of textile waste into handmade carpets from the Vereta brand.
