The Ministry of Natural Resources told about all the eco-losses of Ukraine for 11 months of the war

The war that Russia launched against Ukraine is an act of unprecedented violence against nature

A full-scale war in 11 months caused more than $46 billion in damage to Ukraine's environment, which Russia will be required to compensate.

During this time, nature conservationists recorded 2,300 cases of environmental damage and handed over 959 cases of environmental destruction to law enforcement officers, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources reports on Facebook.

The press service emphasized that some types of damage, for example, to the forests of Ukraine, cannot yet be calculated. Thus, about half a million hectares of forest are under occupation and in the war zone.

"All these materials will be included in the lawsuits of Ukraine against Russia in international courts," the statement stressed.

It is noted that the Ministry of Natural Resources not only calculates environmental losses, but also tells the world about them. After all, even after the end of hostilities, the eco-legacy of the war will remain for many years, including the land mined, burned and dug up by trenches.

"The war that Russia started against Ukraine is an act of unprecedented violence against nature," the press service stressed.

The authors explained that the assertion that nature is the silent victim of war is not true. After all, every act of violence against nature leads to climate change, a reduction in the quantity and quality of resources, the spread of diseases, and so on.

“We should all be aware of the scale of everything that is happening on our earth. We must be prepared to defend our home by all means and methods, and therefore, to force Russia to pay for every piece of burned land, ”the message noted.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets said that Russian aggression caused damage to the environment in the amount of more than $46 billion, and the state will demand compensation from the Russian Federation these losses.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, since the beginning of a full-scale war, environmental inspectors have recorded massive environmental change which have an extremely negative impact on the environment of Ukraine and the entire European continent.
