Exceedances of air pollution standards were not observed at 37 Nauky Avenue

In Kyiv, on January 6, on Peremogy Square, an excess of the average daily maximum allowable concentration of nitrogen dioxide was detected in the air by 5.3 times.

During the week from January 2 to 7, 2023, the level of pollution by formaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide and suspended solids decreased slightly, according to the weekly report on air pollution from the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Boris Sreznevsky.

According to the data of the observatory, the exceeding of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) in terms of the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide was:

  • 5.3 times – on January 6 on Victory Square;
  • 3.0-3.6 times – on Bessarabska Square, Obolonskyi and Peremogy avenues, Kaunaska and Sklyarenko streets;
  • in 2.2-2.8 times – on all other posts ;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily content of sulfur dioxide:

  • in 2.1-2.4 times  on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Peremoha squares, Obolonskyi and Peremoha avenues, Oleksandr Dovzhenka, Inzhener Borodin and Semen Sklyarenko streets;
  • by 1.7-1.9 times – on all other posts;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily content of sulfur dioxide:

  • by 1.4-1.7 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Peremoha squares, Obolonskyi and Peremoha avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Dovzhenka, Hetman Pavla Polubotka, Kaunaska and Sklyarenko streets;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Other exceedances of MPC by average daily content:

  • carbon monoxide 1.0 times on Victory Avenue.

Specialists of the observatory selected and analyzed 1637 atmospheric air samples from 16 stationary stations.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, since February 24, Russian aggression has affected the environment of Kyiv and the region losses of 47.5 billion hryvnias.
