The shelling of the coastal part of Kherson by Russian troops caused a mass death of fish in the water area of ​​the Dnipro River, where the wintering pit is located.

Damages from the plague reached 390.4 million hryvnias, reports State Agency of Land Reclamation and Fisheries of Ukraine.

It was noted that in the water area of ​​10 m2, on average, up to 5 dead individuals of largemouth bass weighing from 7 to 10 kg were observed.

The shelling took place on January 2, 2023.

"The occupiers continue to everywhere destroy the life of our vulnerable animal world," said the acting head of the State Fisheries Agency, Ihor Klymenok. "However, the Russian Federation will not stop Ukrainians in their struggle for a free life in a peaceful country with their actions! We will win, save, restore."

He also added that enemy shelling at one point nullified all efforts for large-scale stocking and protection of aquatic biological resources.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov stated that the Russian occupiers inflicted damage to ecology in the amount of $35.3 billion.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the occupied Kherson region, due to the destruction of ships in ports by Russian troops, about 10 tons of fuel and lubricants.
