During 2022, the district prosecutor's office sent 15 criminal proceedings related to illegal logging to court

In the Rivne region, in the Varas district, the district prosecutor's office created three interdepartmental working groups for effective and timely detection, disclosure and investigation of crimes against the environment.

In 11 months of 2022, the number of detected criminal offenses against the environment increased by 45.9% (89 offenses), compared to the same period in 2021 (61), reports Rayon.Varash.

The authors said that such groups will consist of employees of the district attorney's office, the police, security agencies and state forest guards.

Their work will be related to:

  • illegal logging;
  • illegal extraction, movement and realization of subsoil and land legal relations;
  • misappropriation and misuse of budget funds.

The material noted that during 2022, the district prosecutor's office sent 38 criminal proceedings with indictments to court, in particular:

  • in the budgetary sphere – 2;
  • land legal relations – 4;
  • on the facts of illegal extraction, transfer and sale of subsoil – 17;
  • related to illegal logging – 15.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote that in the Rivne region, two residents of the Saran district will be tried for felling of 5 trees in the botanical reserve "Zalavsky".

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the Rivne region on the territory of the Dubensky forest farm illegally mined 4616 m3 of construction sand, which caused losses in the amount of more than 4.6 million hryvnias.
