The mall employee pretended to know nothing about traps

In Kyiv, in the parking lot of the SkyMall shopping and entertainment center, residents discovered sticky traps for rodents, in which 3 titmice fell.

Kyiv resident Olena Popovych told EcoPolitic, that she tried to save the birds, but one was already dead, and the other died from injuries.

Such traps with bait food are used to fight rodents. The fur and body of the animal is glued to the base, in the case of SkyMall, to a sheet of cardboard, which prevents it from escaping. And the movements of rodents or birds cause serious injuries.

Olena said that when she saw the traps, she could not understand what kind of sticky substance it was and how to tear off these birds. It was very difficult to free the titmice, because they have delicate feathers.

"They saw the janitor, he pretended not to know anything about it. There were no guards. Where to go is not clear. They started to tear off these birds, a passing boy bought a solvent, he helped a little, she said. – They took these birds, began to wash them, cut off the glue. One could not stand it, she was in a very difficult condition. The other one was not so badly hurt, that's why she survived."

EcoPolitic also contacted SkyMall, but did not receive a response.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Odesa region, in the National Natural Park "Tuzlivski Lymani" they found about 100 dead birds poisoned by a rodenticide-like substance (poison for rodents). The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources asked the Prosecutor General's Office to register criminal proceedings under the article of ecocide and to start a pre-trial investigation into the mass death of birds.
