In Mykolaiv, prosecutors, together with police investigators and eco-inspectors, took samples, in particular soil, from the territory of the enterprise, where Russian troops destroyed tanks with sunflower oil.

This is necessary to establish the damage caused to the natural environment, reports Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office on Telegram.

In October 2022, a fire broke out at the enterprise as a result of enemy shelling.

Currently, the investigation of criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 438 "Violation of laws and customs of war" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

"The removed samples will be sent for research," the report said.

Dmytro Pletenchuk, the press officer of Mykolaiv OVA, noted on Facebook that 17% of the world's sunflower oil exports passed through this terminal in the city of Mykolaiv. The enterprise was fired upon twice – by a cruise missile and later by kamikaze drones.

He emphasized that the oil spilled on the streets of the city, and rescuers extinguished the fire for several hours.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that eco-inspectors calculated 2.4 million hryvnias in damages from the fire of dry grass, which occurred due to the impact of ammunition and their fragments, in the Kutsurub territorial community of the Mykolaiv region.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, eco-inspectors calculated more than 562 million hryvnias in damages from clogging of land with destruction waste in the Mykolaiv region during July-September 2022.
