In the air of Kyiv during the week from October 17 to 22, 2022, an excess of the average daily maximum permissible concentration of nitrogen dioxide by 10.4 times was found.
Compared to the previous week, the content of harmful impurities in the atmosphere has hardly changed , says the weekly report on air pollution from the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.
According to the data of the observatory, the exceeding of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) in terms of the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide was:
- 10.4 times – on October 22 on Inzhenera Borodin Street;
- 5.1-6.7 times – on October 18-19 at Peremoha and Demiivska Squares;
- 5.9 times – on October 22 on Kaunaska Street;
- 3.4-4.4 times - on Bessarabska Square, Obolonskyi and Peremogy avenues, Dovzhenka and Semena Sklyarenko streets;
- 2.1-2.7 times – on Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark district, Akademik Strazheska (intersection with Vaclav Havel Boulevard) and Hetman Pavlo Polubotka streets;
- no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).
Other exceedances of MPC by average daily content:
- suspended solids – 1.0 times on Peremogy Avenue (Sviatoshyn metro area), Kaunaska Street;
- of sulfur dioxide – 1.1 times on October 22 on Peremogy Avenue;
- carbon monoxide – 1.9 times on October 22 on Peremogy Avenue;
- with formaldehyde – 1.2-2.7 times on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Peremoha squares, Peremoha, Nauka and Obolonski avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademik Strazheska, Dovzhenka, Kaunaska, Hetman Pavla Polubotka and Sklyarenko streets.
Specialists of the observatory selected and analyzed 1685 atmospheric air samples from 16 stationary stations.
