Part of the firewood will have to be supplied from other regions

The government of Ukraine will allocate more than half a billion hryvnias to 8 regions for the purchase of firewood and its free distribution to the population in the front-line territories, where there is a significant risk of repeated damage to the infrastructure due to terrorist actions of the russian federation.

This applies to communities in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia regions, the head of the State Forest Resources Agency, Yuriy Bolokhovets, reported on Facebook.

Ensuring the supply of firewood was discussed during a meeting with heads of regional administrations and directors of enterprises.

He said that the order of distribution and delivery of this firewood to people will be approved.

Bolokhovets also noted that currently the task of forest farms will be to ensure the necessary amount of fuel. Also, regional administrations in coordination with local authorities need to form a delivery schedule and approve delivery routes. After all, part of the resource will have to be supplied from other regions.

"The industry must be ready for any scenario, mobilizing all available resources. Ukrainians will be provided with heat - this is one of the main priorities today," he emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Ukrainians, who want to independently collect firewood and brushwood in the forests to prepare for the heating season, were urged to abandon such plans, because such actions are considered illegal.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the head of the State Forestry Agency Yuriy Bolokhovets said that Ukrainian forests will not be mindlessly axed, after all, there is an available wood resource for the normal passage of the heating season.
